The Jubilee Hotel Unveiled: A New Chapter for one of Leeds’ Historic City Centre Landmarks
After over a year of painstaking work by Oculis Construction to restore and extend the iconic Jubilee Hotel in Leeds city centre, the scaffolding has finally come down to reveal the hotel’s latest transformation. The Jubilee Hotel, a Grade II listed building opposite the iconic Leeds Town Hall, is being carefully restored and extended, marking a new chapter for one of the city’s historic landmarks.
Located in a prime position at the heart of Leeds, this project celebrates the building’s rich architectural heritage while reimagining it for modern use. Den Architecture has worked on the project since pre-planning and achieved planning approval in 2021. The project aims to preserve the original building’s character-defining features, while blending them seamlessly with a new build contemporary extension to form a new 43 room Apart-Hotel.
Built in 1904, the former Jubilee Hotel was once described as the only remaining ‘Gin Palace’ in Leeds. The retention of the hotel’s stunning existing features has been a priority for Den Architecture, and the proposals will see the existing building brought back to its former glory, with improvements to the internal layouts and high-end contemporary finishes throughout.
While the work is still ongoing, the unveiling of the building’s exterior offers a first glimpse of what’s to come. Stay tuned for more updates as the work to this historic building continues.
